Paper Engineering can be considered both a science and an art. The art of Paper engineering hit the scene in the late 18th century when Lothar Meggendorfer started designing a line of pop-up books. In the 1980’s, there was no training offered in schools therefore apprenticeship and the aptitude to be self-taught were the only options. David Rosendale, Sr paper engineer, combined his knowledge of painting and print with this new trade to be one of a few who have mastered this art.
Today, the industry has progressed and the need for pop-up books and dimensional elements for marketing pieces still resonates now as it did before. When our clients need a concept to come to life, both the functionality and the artwork need to blend harmoniously in order to achieve the desired impact.
